Matsuyama, the first rookie to win the Japan Golf Tour money title, was playing for the first time since he won the Casio World Open in Japan. He played the pro-am at Waialae Country Club on Wednesday, and then pulled out with soreness in his wrist. He was the sixth-highest ranked player in the field at No. 23 in the world.
