7 takeaways from the Ravens’ dominant 47-3 victory over the Bills [Ravens fans: Sign up for FanPulse Alex Collins Jersey , our weekly Ravens survey]The Baltimore Ravens kicked off the 2018 season in dominant fashion, defeating the Buffalo Bills 47-3. Baltimore’s offense was efficient, while their defense was dominant. Joe Flacco’s impressive training camp and preseason translated into one of his best showings in recent memory. Below are seven takeaways from their resounding victory. 1. Kenny Young can be a three-down linebackerYoung looked impressive both in run defense and coverage. He recorded a sack late in the game, and his high football IQ was on full display. Young relied upon his instincts to make plays, which is something Kamalei Correa and Patrick Onwuasor struggle to do. With Correa in Tennessee and Peanut not improving in coverage, this should be Young’s job outright. 2. How long will Janarion Grant’s leash be?Head coach John Harbaugh’s proverbial doghouse is a place that no player should aspire to be in, but Grant may have put himself there with his careless fumble on a punt return. Luckily for the Ravens, Buffalo was unable to recover the fumble, as the ball went out of bounds. Grant also had a 51-yard return that set Baltimore’s offense up nicely, but with Cyrus Jones and Tim White sitting on the practice squad, Grant has little room for error.3. Another year Authentic Patrick Onwuasor Jersey , another group of defenders emergingSeemingly every year a couple of second or third-year defenders hit their stride for the Ravens, and this year looks to be no different. Chris Wormley had an impressive bull rush against center Ryan Groy that generated pressure, and he also deflected a ball at the line of scrimmage. Fellow 2017 draft pick, Tim Williams, also had an impressive performance, continuing his strong preseason play with a quality Week 1 outing. He recorded a sack and was consistently generating pressure from the edge.4. ‘January Joe’ came early, and he may be here to stayFor as inaccurate as he was during the 2017 season, Joe Flacco looked like a completely different quarterback against Buffalo. He was deadly accurate, while also looking down the field. Flacco’s mark of 6.9 yards per attempt is a considerable improvement from a year ago, and his ability to extend plays with his legs made this performance that much more inspiring. On another positive note, Flacco appeared to have changed plays at the line of scrimmage several times Youth Michael Crabtree Jersey , which is not something that he has always done throughout his career.5. Do not call it a comeback Tony Jefferson had a miserable 2017 campaign that was plagued with poor showings in coverage and missed tackles. Last season was an adjustment for Jefferson, given that he was rarely asked to be a single-high safety in Arizona. He is tasked with having to play with more versatility for the Ravens, including being a single-high safety. His performance in Week 1 shows that the 2018 season may be a positive change of pace. Jefferson was excellent in coverage, as he ran stride for stride with a tight end down the sidelines on one play, and he also recorded an interception.6. Opening game shows Ozzie Newsome may have got it rightAfter Baltimore’s heartbreaking loss to the Cincinnati Bengals last season, Ozzie Newsome stated numerous times that he would rebuild the wide receiver room. He wanted to not only ‘change the faces,’ but acquire valuable contributors that could help Flacco bounce back. Newsome must have been smiling from his suite on Sunday as all three free agent wide receivers scored a touchdown. 7. Panic mode? The final stat line suggests the Ravens were successful running the football, but they did not find much success until the game was already decided. Alex Collins and Javorius Allen each scored a touchdown, but they combined for only 30 rushing yards off of 11 carries. Still, the more concerning aspect was the poor run blocking and Collins’ fumble. On a short week, it will be interesting to see how Baltimore’s running game bounces back against the Cincinnati Bengals.Ravens vs. Broncos: Play of the Week After a shaky start http://www.baltimoreravensteamauthentic.com/justin-tucker-jersey , the Ravens settled in both sides of the ball to secure an important 27-14 victory against the Broncos. After trailing at the end of the first quarter, Baltimore outscored Denver 17-0 in the final three quarters. Throughout the game, the Ravens made several highlight plays on both sides of the ball. Check out all the best moments from Week 3 and vote for your favorite below! Mark Andrews 30-yard reception: Andrews helped the Ravens move into the Broncos territory with a spectacular catch on the second offensive drive of the game. Andrews caught a first down over the middle and leaped over two Broncos defenders to extend the play. For a 6’5, 256 pound tight end, Andrews’ athletic ability is impressive. Not many players his size could do this. Alex Collins 6-yard touchdown run: Collins got the Ravens on the board early, tying the game with a touchdown run in the red zone. Collins did a nice job of following his blockers and finding the open hole off a misdirection. The offensive line, specifically tight end Maxx Williams on this play, did a good job blocking and Collins dove untouched into the endzone. He capped off the play with his signature Irish dancing celebration. Za’Darius Smith sack: Smith was all over the field against Denver, but his most impressive play came late in the first quarter. On a 3rd & 2, Smith blew past the Broncos right tackle to sack Case Keenum. The Broncos lost seven yards on the play and were forced to punt the ball away. Smith celebrated with Ray Lewis’ signature “squirrel dance”. Javorius Allen 7-yard touchdown reception: The Ravens took a 17-14 lead midway through the second quarter, courtesy of Buck Allen. Allen http://www.baltimoreravensteamauthentic.com/nick-boyle-jersey , who scored two touchdowns on the day, took a short pass in the flat 12 yards to the endzone. Von Miller was in close pursuit, but Allen made an impressive extension to reach the ball across the pylon. Allen’s touchdown reception came on a third down and prevented the Ravens from settling for a field goal.Patrick Onwuasor Interception: Although “Peanut” was mostly quiet on Sunday, he came up with arguably the biggest play of the game. With the Broncos driving entering the redzone and threatening to make it a one-possession game, Onwuasor picked off a Case Keenum pass intended for tight end Jeff Heuerman. Onwuasor returned the interception 89 yards for a touchdown, but it was called back due to a penalty. However, the turnover still proved crucial as the Ravens retained possession and ultimately won the game. John Brown 44-yard reception: Another game, another big play in the passing game courtesy of “Smokey”. Brown was matched up with Broncos rookie cornerback Issac Yiadom and took advantage of the matchup. Flacco looked his way on a fly route along the sidelines and Brown made a nice extension to haul in the 44-yard reception. It was a perfectly placed ball, and it helped the Ravens advance into Denver territory.
