Amateur star Barry Lynn will compete in the Coral UK Open quarter-finals on Sunday afternoon after continuing his dream run in Minehead as Kyle Anderson and Joe Cullen also reached the last eight for the first time in a major championship. Lynn had won through the Rileys Amateur Qualifier at South Benfleet last month to secure a UK Open spot, and defeated Dean Stewart, Brett Claydon and Brendan Dolan to progress to Saturdays fourth round. There he defeated world champion Gary Anderson, before seeing off Cheshires Kellett with another against-the-odds triumph to become the first amateur qualifier to appear in the quarter-finals. It feels great, said Lynn, who sealed his win over Kellett with a 125 bullseye-outer bull-bullseye finish. It was a struggle against Stuart - it was always going to be a hard match, but fatigue set in and my arm felt heavy because its been a long couple of days.I was just glad to scrape over the finishing line. Its been a wonderful weekend so far and I cant wait for Sunday.Lynn will now get a chance to take on world No 1 Michael van Gerwen, the reigning UK Open champion, after the Dutch ace came from 2-0 down to win nine successive legs in defeating Kim Huybrechts.Van Gerwen had also landed a nine-dart finish in his fourth-round win over another Rileys Amateur Qualifier, Rob Cross, earlier on Saturday, and is an odds-on favourite to retain his title and claim the £60,000 winners cheque on Sunday evening. Michael van Gerwen is next up for Lynn Im really pleased to have got through again and even though I wasnt at my best it was enough and Im happy to be still in for the quarter-finals, said van Gerwen.Barry said in an interview earlier on that I was the only player hes scared of, so Im glad Im playing him! I need to prepare myself though and Im looking forward to it.The fifth round also saw Australian ace Kyle Anderson book his spot in a first-ever major ranking quarter-final with a clinical 9-2 win over Benito van de Pas - meaning that he has dropped just six legs in seeing off Andy Hamilton, James Wilson and the Dutch youngster so far this weekend.I know I can score but Im hitting doubles and Im happy with that, said Anderson. If I can keep improving that, then who knows what can happen on Sunday?Ive been comfortable for a while and Im feeling confident. Im on the main stage with a full crowd and Im looking forward to it. Kyle Anderson is through to his first major quarter-final Anderson now faces Jelle Klaasen after the former Lakeside champion reached the UK Open quarter-finals for the first time by defeating Adrian Lewis 9-7.Bradfords Joe Cullen will also play in the last four of a major for the first time following his 9-7 defeat of 2015 semi-finalist Stephen Bunting.Everyones said Ive had the potential for years and Ive always known its been there, and luckily this week its coming out, said Cullen. Im confident and hopefully Ill do well on Sunday.Cullen drew 2015 runner-up Peter Wright, who enjoyed a 9-5 win over Norwichs Darren Webster as he continued his own bid for a maiden major title.Five-time UK Open champion Phil Taylor averaged almost 104 as he continued his high-quality weekend in Minehead with a 9-7 win over 2007 finalist Vincent van der Voort, who threatened to force a deciding leg before the Stoke legend finished 81 on the bull to seal victory.Taylor now meets former Lakeside champion Mark Webster, after the left-hander reached his fourth major quarter-final in the space of six months with a 9-5 win over Austrias Mensur Suljovic.Fifth-round results:Joe Cullen 9-7 Stephen BuntingPhil Taylor 9-7 Vincent van der VoortJelle Klaasen 9-7 Adrian LewisMichael van Gerwen 9-2 Kim HuybrechtsMark Webster 9-5 Mensur SuljovicBarry Lynn 9-5 Stuart KellettPeter Wright 9-5 Darren WebsterKyle Anderson 9-2 Benito van de PasQuarter-final results:Jelle Klaasen 10-0 Kyle AndersonPeter Wright 10-7 Joe CullenMichael van Gerwen 10-6 Barry LynnPhil Taylor 10-3 Mark WebsterSemi-finals:Peter Wright v Jelle KlaasenMichael van Gerwen v Phil Taylor Also See: Premier League talking points Anderson loses to Lynn Amateur duo impress MVG too hot for Wright Jordan Phillips Jersey . NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Pekka Rinne doesnt want November to end.Filip Forsberg, James Neal and Ryan Johansen each had a goal and an assist to lead the Nashville Predators over the Dallas Stars 5-2 on Wednesday night.Rinne made 33 saves for Nashville, improving to 7-1-2 this November. After he made eight saves in the first, Dallas put 22 on the Finn in the second, and he denied them all. He stopped 3 of 5 in the third. They came hard that period, they shot the puck a lot, Rinne said of the second. For the most part, I was able to see it. I felt good all night, and that was a busy period. Obviously now looking back, that was a big period just being able to defend that.Mike Fisher and Craig Smith also scored for Nashville, winners of three of four.Patrick Sharp and Brett Ritchie scored and Kari Lehtonen made 16 saves for the Stars, who have lost two of three. There was a lot of good stuff in the game, Dallas coach Lindy Ruff said. Our energy was good. I thought the second period on, our breakouts coming out of our own end were good.Forsberg scored the games first goal with 5:08 left in the opening period. With the puck above the right faceoff circle, P.K. Subban sent a pass to Forsberg in the lower part of the left circle. There, Forsberg squeezed the puck in between Lehtonens right skate and the right post.It was a really nice play by Subby to find me back door and I just tried to hit the net, Forsberg said.It was Forsbergs second goal of the season. In 2015-16, Forsberg matched a franchise record with 33 goals.Subban has points in four consecutive games.Fisher doubled the lead with 3:54 left in the second. His initial attempt from the left side was blocked by Jason Spezza, but Fisher regained control of the puck, skated behind the net and beat Lehtonen with a backhanded wraparound.A lengthy video review determined the puck had completely crossed the goal line, giving thhe Nashville captain his fourth goal of the season.ddddddddddddSharp got Dallas on the scoreboard at 5:32 of the third with a short-handed goal. It was the first of the season for Sharp, who missed 14 games with concussion-like symptoms before returning Nov. 17.Yeah, disappointing third period, Sharp said. We kind of put ourselves in a good spot there on the road trailing by one against a tough team. Its not a bad spot to be in, but a couple of mistakes ended up being the difference in the game.Johansen answered 41 seconds later with a power-play goal. Neal sent a pass from the left circle in front to Johansen, who had a tap-in for his second of the season. That was a really big goal, Nashville coach Peter Laviolette said. At that point, they had fired a lot of shots, a lot of attempts. We were on the power play and theres a chance to really blow it open, and we give one back the other way. I dont think there was much time left in the power play, maybe 25 seconds or so and to go out there, get it in and get it to the net, and score a goal and take back the two goals at that point I think was really important. The assist was the 200th of Neals career.Smith scored with 8:51 left off Forsbergs pass.Ritchie scored his sixth of the season with 1:16 left, but Neal answered a minute later with an empty-net goal.Game notes Nashville D Ryan Ellis played in his 300th career NHL game. ...
