MANCHESTER, N.H. -- Kyle MacKinnons first-period goal held up as the winner as the visiting St. Johns IceCaps picked up their sixth straight victory with a 3-1 win over the Manchester Monarchs in American Hockey League action on Saturday. Captian Jason Jaffray scored on the power play with 44 seconds left in the second period, and Adam Lowry rounded out the IceCaps (26-15-3) offence by burying his eighth of the season three minutes into the game. Paul Postma assisted on all three St. Johns goals, and Jerome Samson helped on two as the IceCaps -- currently in second place in the Atlantic -- moved within 10 points of the Monarchs in the standings. Linden Vey had the lone goal for the Atlantic division-leading Monarchs (29-13-7), spoiling Michael Hutchinsons shutout bid at 1:27 of the third period. Nick Deslauriers was credited with the lone assist. Hutchinson made 28 saves while Manchesters Jean-Francois Berube stopped 18 shots in the losing effort. The IceCaps are 8-2 in their last 10 games.
